Introduction

As more consumers want to know where their food comes from and how it is raised, we, as farmers, feel that it is important that we respond to that consumer demand. Animal health, nutrition and welfare is as important to us as producers as it is to our clients. Animals that are in peak health and low stress produce better eggs and meat.

Who knew that doing the right thing tasted so good!

Heritage animals cannot and should not exist as a museum object. They must serve a commercial purpose. If you go onto our Livestock page where we discuss why we raise heritage breeds, the point we didn’t mention is FLAVOUR. With all the work developing breeds that are grow faster, produce more eggs and are more feed efficient we seem to have forgotten flavour. So whether you buy heritage breed products because of ethical production methods or concern about future food security, we are sure you will come back because of the flavour.
